In 1992, Rapper/Actor Ice Cube released a song on his album (The Predator) called, "Today was a Good Day." And on that song is a repeated line that says, " I can't believe, today was a good day." #goodfriday #todaywasagoodday

Although Resurrection Sunday has already passed, I wanted to still share this #GOODFRIDAY post that I shared on my Facebook page:

"As a Simplifier in this community, you guys are aware that my Christian faith is important and integrated into my brand. With that being stated, I wanted to reverence Holy Week, Good Friday, and Resurrection Sunday (aka, Easter).

In the U.S., Good Friday occurs TWO days before Easter. It's the day Christians commemorate the Crucifixion and death of their Savior, Jesus Christ. In most Christian churches, there is/will be some type of Good Friday service that typically will preach small sermons titled, "7 Last Words." The biblical passage, "It is Finished" is one of those and is found in John 19:30. And it reads, "So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "IT IS FINISHED!" And bowing His head, He gave up His Spirit.

So much can be excreted from that passage but, I want to encourage you with THIS. This passage is TRULY ALL about Jesus. However, if I could apply it to your health and wellness journey of some sort; I'm going to TRY! Before Jesus whispered his LAST THREE words, He took(drank)sour wine(vinegar). Whew! Sour things are NOT easily digestible BUT, can be teachable moments for your journey. It's HOW we perceive and digest them that make the difference.

Taking it like a champ doesn't mean you have to force a smile either. It's KNOWING that God will SOMEHOW use the vinegar for a BIGGER purpose IN YOUR LIFE. If you can ingest sour things and NOT quit, that means you can "stomach" things that COULD take you out but, haven't!! And after you've done all you could, to STOMACH the sour, KNOW that "IT IS FINISHED!" There is NOTHING else YOU can DO in YOUR strength to make it happen or have it happen for a beautiful, expected end.

So, be encouraged today that whatever you are facing on your health and wellness journey (sickness, disease, mental health, depression, suppression, COVID-19...whatever) Jesus took that with Him to the Cross and FINISHED it before willingly submitting HIS last breath to God! Breathe easy!

Happy Good Friday!

OF COURSE, THEY CAN!!

That saying, "No new friends," doesn't work with this simple combo. Guacamole isn't JUST that "LIL" dip for some kind of tortilla chip. It's also not just that light green, sma fruit that we PLOP on top of nachos either! NOOOO! Expand your horizons and add it as a dipping condiment to a side of baked or roasted potatoes. Or, even as a side dip to French fries--YES, I went there! LOL.

So, the simplest way to do it is to TRY it. Let's make this:

Start by roasting some potatoes or a baked potato and season how you prefer them. Next, you can purchase premade guacamole, or make your own (I make my own). Dip and eat! That simple! Let me know how you like it!

Growing up, I used to HAAAAATE coleslaw. Eww, just yuck. I didn't like it. When the church used to have a fish fry, the coleslaw would either be too watery from milk and vinegar or, have too much mayo that it just is a GLOB of white matter with specs of orange green cabbage and carrot confetti.

Fast forward and I just adopted my version of coleslaw (even if some may not consider it a coleslaw). But wait, coleslaw or slaw is basically, is a side dish consisting primarily of finely shredded raw cabbage with a salad dressing, commonly either vinaigrette or mayonnaise.

Ingredients

  • 1 package of premade shredded purple cabbage

  • 1 red bell pepper diced

  • 1.5 c. shredded carrots

  • 1 large avocado diced

  • 1/3 c. steamed edamame or green peas (optional)

  • 2 tbsp. of coconut aminos

  • 2 tbsp. sesame oil

  • 2 tbsp. of hemp seeds (optional)

  • 1/3 c. dried cranberries

  • 1/4 c. of cashew nuts or nuts of choice (optional)

  • 1 tbsp. sweetener of choice (honey, agave etc.)

Instructions

  1. Blend all ingredients in a HUGE bowl and mix

  2. If you want to it chilled, refrigerate for 15-20min

  3. ENJOY
